STORY & PHILOSOPHY
Mijn werk vertrekt vanuit een persoonlijke noodzaak om vorm te geven aan wat niet altijd in woorden past. Sculptuur is voor mij een manier om innerlijke beweging zichtbaar te maken.
Ik werk met materialen zoals pleister, ijzer, roest, brons. Ik laat me leiden door wat het materiaal toelaat, door weerstand, gewicht en textuur. In dat proces ontstaat een evenwicht tussen controle en overgave.
Ijzer heeft daarin een bijzondere plaats. Wat ooit voor mij verbonden was met zwaarte, groeide uit tot een element dat stevigheid en draagkracht verbeeldt. Die verschuiving, van last naar kracht, is geen concept, maar een ervaring die zich geleidelijk in mijn werk heeft verankerd.
Mijn eerste werken ontstonden in een periode van persoonlijke intensiteit. Die tijd bracht kwetsbaarheid naar de oppervlakte, maar opende tegelijk een ruimte voor verdieping en helderheid.
Vandaag beschouw ik elk beeld als een moment van verstilling. Geen verklaring, geen illustratie, maar een aanwezigheid. Wat mij interesseert, is de fragiele balans tussen zachtheid en stevigheid, en de vraag hoe kwetsbaarheid kan samenvallen met waardigheid.
Mijn sculpturen nodigen uit tot herkenning zonder iets op te leggen. Ze vertrekken vanuit het persoonlijke, maar zoeken naar iets dat breder gedeeld kan worden: menselijkheid in haar meest pure vorm.

My work stems from a personal need to give form to what doesn't always fit into words. For me, sculpture is a way to make inner movement visible. I work with materials such as plaster, iron, rust, and bronze. I allow myself to be guided by what the material allows, by resistance, weight, and texture. In this process, a balance emerges between control and surrender. Iron holds a special place in this. What was once associated with heaviness for me grew into an element that represents solidity and resilience.
That shift, from burden to strength, is not a concept, but an experience that has gradually become entrenched in my work.
My first works were created during a period of personal intensity. That time brought vulnerability to the surface, but simultaneously opened up a space for depth and clarity.
Today, I consider each sculpture a moment of stillness. Not an explanation, not an illustration, but a presence. What interests me is the fragile balance between softness and solidity, and the question of how vulnerability can coincide with dignity. My sculptures invite recognition without imposing anything. They start from the personal, but seek something more broadly shared: humanity in its purest form.
